In the Old Testament, we are given the story of a young Jewish orphan girl who was carried into slavery by the Persians into what is now modern day Iraq. The entire Jewish race was threatened with extinction in a planned genocide, but God gave her favor with the King...He called for her to be his wife, and when her cousin Mordechai told her of the plot to destroy the Jews, he asked her a powerful question..."Who knows, but that you are called into the Kingdom for such a time as this?"
So Esther took the challenge, fasted , prayed, and entered the King's presence without permission (punishable by death)...She revealed her Jewish ancestry, and pleaded for mercy from the King...Because of her faith, the entire generation of Jews was spared, given tremendous benefits and abundance in the Kingdom, and the lineage of the Messiah was spared!!!
The theme for our church, our building campaign and for each of our ministries in 2010 is "For Such A Time As This" Esther 4:14.
We are living in an awesome time...Even though the economy looks bad, our God is unlimited and mighty. He will bless and deliver His people through it all! While the nations are in turmoil, we as believers keep looking up, for Jesus is coming soon! Even though war threatens many nations, and diseases rage out of control, we will NOT FEAR...We have been called into the Kingdom (of GOD) for such a time as this!!!
If God can use a Jewish orphan to change the heart of the King of Iraq, He can use me and He can use you!
Did you ever wonder why you were born in this generation? Why not earlier? God has a unique plan for a unique people at this unique time...Let's ask Him to fulfill it in our lives...Spend some time fasting and praying about the future, and about your role at LCC! ...! Let God speak to you about the coming year...Receive the challenge to rise up and lead others into life giving relationships with Jesus Christ!
Let's refocus---refuel---and refire for the work of the Lord...For such a time as this!!
